booze powder

In addition to the growing concern of teenagers purchasing legal synthetic drugs on line we now have an additional  issue with Powdered Alcohol.

Powdered Alcohol is nothing new however accessibility will now be easier for our young teenagers to purchase on line.  The item can be easily ordered via a website and mailed out.  Simply add a small amount of powdered booze to a couple litres of water or juice and wham, you now have 2 litres of booze.

This underlines the importance of cloaking bags for all birthday parties 18 years and under in a secure area.

The following should be posted on Facebook for all guests:

All valuables are to be left at home as all bags will be cloaked. (This will avoid kids forgetting what they have placed in the bag after they have pre-loaded on substance. Your guests may start making allegations of theft)

No unsealed drink bottles will be permitted into the party (Either water bottles or drink bottles-Be prepared for many reasons why they would like to bring in that particular drink)

Place cloaked bags in a secure room with a parent (preferably 2 females) monitoring them for entire duration of the party.  Be prepared for many excuses from the guests such as: I need to brush my hair, I need to take my bag to the toilet, I need to apply my make up bla bla.

When the guests are in the room checking their bags ensure that you are watching them for the whole time.  The guests will ensure you have plenty of distractions so they are able to place the banned item in their pockets, down tops and so on.

Generally the indication for them being successful in getting the undetected item is that they will exit erratically to an area where you can’t see them !  Usually to where a large group of kids are dancing.  You may not notice the side affects of what they have ingested until approximately 30 minutes later

My recommendation will always be to hire Professional Security for these events.  In addition to having the experience in dealing with conflict, they should all be first aid trained and should know how to deal with a situation where the guests have overdosed on substance.  If you decide to to go down a different path ensure your parents helpers are sober and are First Aid qualified.
