Last night’s 16th birthday was a great example of community support.
I had assigned a large crew of experienced crowd controllers to an event of around 250 guests.
We had info leading up to the event that indicated the event would be targeted by a new gatecrashing group within the area. The host had been receiving random text messages from unknown people stating they would try and gain entry and cause problems.
The week prior , I informed the Police and also contacted the local news editor to try and raise awareness about this group within the community.
I had the host post my usual entry conditions which included the following:
External Cameras will be operating at this event to deter gatecrashers and protect guests
I apologise also if anyone noticed me yesterday conducting a ‘rain dance’ within the backyard of my home !! I was really wanting a downpour!!
The result was better then anticipated:
Police were involved throughout the night. We were lucky enough to have a brawler van assigned within the area, which meant the crew were conducting regular foot patrols within the event.
The local paper released this article the night of the event (last night) which meant the kids and parents had shared this story via the internet. Many of the associates of the gatecrashing group were friends with some of the guests. Read more
The family helpers were amazing !!
We timed the storm perfectly !!! We had a massive down pour of rain.
The combination of all these factors assisted with keeping the trouble away which meant the guests had a great time and staff were kept safe
To our community, thanks for your support !!!
