Fair warning
Yesterday, changes to Victoria’s Liquor Control Reform Act mean a parent hosting an event at their home must:
- Assess the type & quantity of alcohol being consumed.
- Check if teens have eaten & are intoxicated.
Imagine trying to do that while you’re decorating the pavlova!
Help at hand
Happily, I have a new service to help you cope with these and other party dramas.
And it’s easy-peasy.
Whenever I assign my staff to a client’s event, we always do a mandatory physical assessment of the premises.
If, however, you live out of town or wish to forego professional security (not a great idea these days) you can still benefit from my expertise.
Risk reduction
So many things can go wrong at a party. The last thing you want is for one of your teen guests to be injured or assaulted. Unlike the old days, such incidents can easily trigger civil litigation and even criminal prosecution for negligence.
With my pre-party assessment, however, we can ensure you’re covered.
How it works
Basically, you ring me up and take me through your venue.
As you ‘walk the walk’ your guests will take on the night, I point out the many and varied risks. Stuff you may never have thought of, like:
- Excessive guest numbers.
- Gate crashers.
- Managed entry (guest list, pre-loading, observation system, bag cloaking).
- Staff & parent allocation.
- Job description & observation points for each helper.
- Hot spots (where the action will be).
- Food.
- Bar set-up & management.
- Notifying police.
- Keeping neighbours happy.
Be smart!
Thanks to the law changes, you are now responsible for every child at your home drinking or not drinking.
You owe it to kids who are partying on your watch. And to your own family – to keep them out of trouble and danger.
If you want your child looked after at the next party they attend, be the change you want to see.
