Capsicum spray to defuse attacker
A man has been charged with seriously assaulting police after allegedly using a police torch to hit two officers in the head in Ipswich.
Police were called to an out of control party at Old Toowoomba Road in One Mile about 10.40 on Saturday, when the 20-year-old man resisted arrest and made threats to the officers.
A torch fell to the ground during the ensuing scuffle, and police allege the man picked up the item and attacked two male officers.
A female officer then sprayed the alleged attacker with capsicum spray.
The injured officers were taken to the Ipswich Hospital with minor injuries.
The 20-year-old has been charged with two counts of seriously assaulting police and obstructing police.
He will face Ipswich Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
