Bar piercing his skull and going out the other side.
[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]A teenage gatecrasher has been found guilty of intentionally throwing a steel bar at Liam Knight, piercing his skull and causing lifelong brain damage.
The youth, known as DS because he was 16 at the time, threw a rebar “javelin-style” from the roof of a shed at a house in Forestville in early 2013.
His co-accused, Jimmy Angelo Tupou, was found not guilty of any role in the attack.
Mr Knight, 18 – who survived the horrific attack but continues to suffer epilepsy, loss of motor function and permanent cognitive impairments, and uses a walking stick – was in court for the verdict, supported by his parents and brothers.
During the trial the District Court heard that some time before 11pm on January 11, 2013, DS, Tupou and three others arrived at the Staples family’s Forestville house only to be told they were not on the guest list for Harry Staples’ 18th birthday party and were not welcome.
DS jumped a fence and shouted to his mates friends: “Come on, we can come through this way.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”23334″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_button2 title=”MEDIA LINK” style=”rounded” color=”violet” size=”sm” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.smh.com.au%2Fnsw%2Fteen-found-guilty-of-intentionally-throwing-steel-bar-at-liam-knight-20140502-zr3gj.html||target:%20_blank”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
