Dear Parents,
This is what makes my blood boil!
You make contact with me to assist with your teenager’s party.
I attend your home and recommend a number of things such as:
Ensuring your property is safe and secure
Establishing an Alcohol Management System and why it is so important.
Why we need a number of sober parents to assist
Numbers of guests
Notification to the Police and Neighbours
Assisting with a Transport Plan
At the end of the pre assessment you agree and are happy with the recommendations.
I then email you a quick summary and then forward you an official summary of the plan
Staff are assigned based on risk
You sign this document and forward it back to me indicating you agree with the recommendations.
Great, everything is coming together except when I arrive at your party home I establish the following:
The parent helpers are intoxicated
The bar is not set up as recommended
The parents managing the bar are intoxicated.
Then 2 hours after the party starts I observe a number of teenagers throwing up (Really! What a surprise!)
Then some of the drunk parents stagger out and give me some rant about ‘it can’t be stopped, kids drinking too much’.
So when the party group decide to have a fight, who are you going to call on for support ?
That’s right the crowd control !! Is it ok if we get injured ?
This could have been the reality as another party 2 km away did get gatecrashed and parents were injured!
Next time you would like support either listen and follow the directions or don’t bother !
It is not worth the stress
