Can you see your home in this screenshot? Don’t worry if you can’t; gatecrashers can easily get a bird’s-eye view just for you.
And if your property has any weaknesses, they’ll even show up in person.
A new craze
Teens now take mobile-phone screenshots of proposed party venues and send them via the internet to the gatecrashing ‘community’.
Private homes have long been ‘soft’ targets for gatecrashers due to:
- Lack of planning by party hosts.
- Limited (and declining) availability of public venues for youth events.
Now the problem is getting much worse, with any home security flaws being broadcast on social media sites.
It’s becoming awfully common: violent intruders are turning up en masse to wreck parties, property and people.
Way out
Yet we rarely see these thugs at the events my team and I secure.
This is because we take a planned approach to youth celebrations and actively monitor high-risk events.
The preventive and protective measures we take are also posted on social networking sites, so gatecrashers know which locations not to target.
This is a rare case of social media actually deterring alcohol-fuelled violence.
A quick reminder
In case you’re wondering what’s wrong with gatecrashers, read this and this.
If you host an event, it’s your duty to ensure the safety of every guest.
So what kind of images do you want at your next party?!
