Youth struck in head with brick during out-of-control

A man has been hit in the head with a brick after gate-crashers stormed a party at a rental home in Melbourne last night.

Police said they found almost 40 unwanted guests a house party on Prior Street in Malvern East about 11pm.

Witnesses described a “gang” running into the party armed with knives and knuckledusters.

“Some guy got his face slashed, there were bricks being thrown around. It was violent, real violent,” a witness told 9NEWS.

The crowd quickly dispersed when officers arrived but three people needed medical assistance and were taken to hospital.

One man was treated for non-life threatening head injuries and a broken finger.

9NEWS understands the home was rented off popular listing site Airbnb especially for the event.
